About
I’m Melanie, but you can call me Mel. I’m a meticulous copywriter, speedy proofreader, and all-around Merriam-Webster fanatic. I also enjoy alliteration—but use it only sparingly, I swear.
My writing and editing experience spans the ever-changing channels of digital marketing (blogging, social media marketing, and SEO—oh my!), as well as the wondrous, in-your-hands stationery and gift-books world. In a nutshell: I write short-form and long-form content with an editing eye for both digital and print.
One of my greatest accomplishments was launching, project managing, and producing funny content for independent publisher Knock Knock’s blog since 2011.
Other achievements: producing Knock Knock’s first audiobook, interviewing singer/songwriter genius Meiko while covering SXSW, and adopting Captain Daenerys Phoebs Tonks Bluth (AKA Dany), who has effortlessly charmed me into becoming the cat lady I am today.
Outside of my professional writing and editing work, I empower young women through, well, more writing and editing. Since 2013, I’ve had the pleasure of spending my weekends as a volunteer WriteGirl mentor, advising teen mentees on different writing genres (from journalism to songwriting), cultivating their creativity and confidence along the way.
As a feminist, I look forward to writing and producing content that inspires equality, creativity, and diversity. I’m also a sucker for great storytelling and am always on the hunt for compelling narratives to share.
Now, feel free to hang out and check out some of my stuff, or drop me a hello. I’m excited to meet you!
